Daniel M. Sisson is an electrical engineer and technical writer with more than 35 years in the industries this reference covers. He began in industrial control and instrumentation, designing systems for GE nuclear reactors, NSA power grids, NASA wind tunnels and US Navy shipyard SCADA networks. What This Reference Covers

BESS-Guide.com covers safety compliance for battery energy storage systems (BESS): codes and standards such as NFPA 855, UL 9540 and UL 9540A, permitting and Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) review, siting, hazard and risk management, and operations from commissioning through decommissioning.

SiliconPlans Network

BESS-Guide is part of the SiliconPlans network of reference sites, each mapping one layer of the AI-industrial stack: ElectronsX (electrification), SemiconductorX (semiconductors), DatacentersX (data centers), 137ai (AI), and LuxeAutonomy. Its sister battery references are BatteryComplianceGuide and BatteryPassportGuide. The sites are built as a knowledge graph, with entities resolved once and cross-linked, so the reference gains value as it grows.
